How can I pierce my belly button without getting an infection?

So I want to get my belly button peirced…but…I can’t get it professionally done so I would be doing it myself. I don’t want to get any infections so any tips on what to do to the needle? And…is there anything for the pain? I’m not really worried about it but I’m just wondering.

First off, Im recommending that you do not pierce your belly button by yourself. Even it’s really easy to self pierce, I’d advise against it. It can get infected from tight clothing etc. It’s not just the needle that’s important. If you really want this piercing wait until you can get it professionally done.

Second, if you do do it yourself, make sure you have either a silver or gold belly button ring to put in, that will be the safest metal.

It takes that piercing anywhere from 4 months to 1 year to heal. I really recommend thinking about it or getting it done professionally if you can.
