Take her some place where she will learn to stop wanting to lose so much weight. Many girls want to be only anorexic because they want to become thin. But really, its all a matter of eating healthy and doing a lot of excersice and drinking a lot of water. What I am saying is she might have got this idea from another person,,,or mabey she got it from T.V.

Good Luck…and take care

Hi There, I am dealing with the same issue with my 15 y/o daughter. I am in Canada so I am not sure what services are in your area. You may want to check with your daughters’ counselor to see what kind of support is out there for family and friends who are trying to support people with anorexia. That’s how I’m coping on my end. I still feel useless - but at least I know I’m not alone. I wish you all the best. Know that you are doing all the right things and it comes down to her decision to eat. Lynn

Hey there. Well keep her going to a counsellor. Maybe you should try get her to meet other girls that have been through anorexia and they could advise her what to do or tell her how they got through it. Make her aware that anorexia is life threatning and you’d probably be better off going to a doctor or a person a pychiatrist. You need to understand what the issues are that are causing her anorexia. But yeah I’d reccommened you see a health or menatl health professional

Dear spinxey, You must not stop counselling and you must find a place she can go that handles anorexia. This is not just a phase that will pass. Anorexia is a psychological disorder and needs to be treated as such. The food is secondary but the lack of food is what will eventually be her downfall. People with anorexia suffer from faulty thinking and need to get back on track…you can’t do this yourself and it can’t be done without help. I know it’s frustrating but what you say and do will have little impact on her. These are cases for professionals. Sue…good luck
