How do I get my 3-year-old Bichon Frise back onto a dog food diet?

as she is turning her nose up at dog food??

If her favorite food is bacon, try mixing the dog food with bacon grease or put tiny bits of bacon in it. You need to make the dog food taste more familiar to her, then slowly back off on the extra bacon in her food and, with patience, she’ll be back on dog food.

At first, you can put plenty of bacon/egg/whatever in the dog food, but after a while, you’re going to need to be a little mean sometimes. There will be times that she won’t want to eat the dog food and simply beg for what you’re eating. Don’t give her any. Don’t add more goodies to her dog food if she gets wise and decides she doesn’t want to switch over. She’ll get hungry and she’ll whine to you, but she’ll eat it eventually. At the beginning this might be necessary to retrain her to eat from her bowl and that she is to eat the dog food.

Also, if she doesn’t like one brand of dog food, your welcome to switch her over in those first transition days. However, once she gets used to it, switching over can result in… messy results. I have 6 labs, and one day we decided to buy a cheaper dog food (its still the stuff we have them on now) and it got messy. They needed to transition between them because their bodies were not used to the new kind.

You put her food down….wait 30 minutes, then take it back up….might take a few days, but she will not starve herself. She has you trained, instead of the other way around.
