Answer #1

You have to be at least 15 to be emancipated, and in order to do so you have to have good reason and be able to show your capable of supporting yourself. A court will not give you that right if you can’t show you are able to support yourself. You have to be in school, most likely have a job, and a form of transportation.

Answer #2

i thought it was 16 to be emancipated

Answer #3

Generally it is 16 but a lot depends on your state law. and it is VERY hard for a 15 year old to get emancipated, she just asked what the youngest was. Like I said you have to be able to support yourself and a 15 year old can only get so many hours by law. You’d be more opt to go into foster care if anything.

Answer #4

yeah… Weird i always thought it was 16.

Answer #5

Hun,unless you are being hit or beaten, then try to just deal with your parents. If you get emancipated, from what i have understood (because i wanted to get emancipated when i was 16) legally you go from the age you are now to 18. So,when you really are 18,legally you’ll be 20. Do you really want that? Being an adult isn’t easy! Living on your own is hard. And i’m sure will life will be harder on you if you become an adult when you are a kid. Enjoy your youth and try to mend things with your fam. Why would you want to waste being a kid? Being an adult is hard, and you have much more responsiblity.

Answer #7

it is 14 in FL…but i dunno if its a real gud idea…i would wait till you got a job

Answer #8

As I previously said it varies state to state.

Answer #9

Answer #10

Answer #11

Answer #12

You’re legally an adult at 18. In a practical sense you need to be 16 to be emancipated. This seems to be some magic solution to most teenagers for some unknown reason. Judges will very rarely grant an emancipation. You need to have a very good reason and prove you can support yourself. Without some kind of inheritance or well paid job (not happening at 16 unless you’ve got some sort of special talent), you cannot support yourself. You also need a GOOD reason. Having a bipolar mother and father with anger problems is not a good reason. If they are abusing you, you can call social services, who can step in and if it is serious enough, they can remove you from the home. And once you’re an adult, if you’re living with someone and your parents have threatened that person, they can get a court order so that your parents have to stay away from that person. There’s not much you can do about your parents paying someone else to hurt someone? Oh, and an emancipation doesnt magically add two years to your life. You may be legally an adult in some ways, but your age is still your age. You cant drink till you’re 21.
