Workouts for middle distance runners?

Ok so I am running the 400m and probably the 800m in track this spring. I ran cross country so I am used to the endurance part. I need to get some speed though for these two events. I have been working out trying to build up some muscle. I was just wondering what type of mileage I should be running. Before in cross country I was running about 30 miles a week. Now that I am working out it is harder to run that type of mileage. So I was wondering if I should back off the weights and up my mileage or keep on the weights?

To my standers you should lift weights it could comein pretty handy . But dont spend all your time lifting weights. Maybe, umm. Run in mornings or whenever you get the chance. Just dont let the lifting weights take up your day!!!
