Will my wisdom teeth mess up my whole mouth?

I’m 16 and I don’t have any signs of wisdom teeth yet, but I’m getting really worried. You see, my teeth are practically perfect, I’m not crazy about my overall physical appearance, but my teeth are great. The problem is that I don’t have any room for wisdom teeth, so if I get them, they’ll push the rest of my teeth forward and make them all crooked. So I have 2 questions: 1.Does everyone get wisdom teeth and at what age do they generally come? 2.If I do get them, could I get them pulled before they’re completely in to save my teeth?

1.Does everyone get wisdom teeth and at what age do they generally come?

Not everyone has wisdom teeth. About 85 percent of people between the ages of 16 and 20 have all four, some or all of which may be impacted, and 95 percent have at least one. The wisdom teeth are the last to come through. Nowadays people often have jaws that are too small for all 32 teeth - 28 are often the most we have room for. So if all the other teeth are present and healthy there may not be enough space for the wisdom teeth to come through properly.

I’m 15 and I just got my pulled yesterday, I noticed them coming in because I felt an aching in the back of my mouth and I had braces before and I saw my teeth were shifting, So I went to the dentist to get an x-ray just to see if they were coming in and they were, so it all depends if you notice any change or you can schedule an appointment with your dentist to talk with them about it.

Hope it helps ^^

Hey brighteyez, 16 is still early for signs of wisdom teeth normally they pop out after 18 and sometimes they don’t pop out at all. In some cases individuals don’t even have one or two wisdom teeth within the jaw but it is not exactly “normal”. Wisdom teeth dont normally cause crowding because they usually pop up either very close to the last teeth (which normally disturbs their erruption) or at the far outer corners of the jaw behind the last teeth. You could get them removed but bear in mind it is extremely painful. I had three of mine removed, two surgically, it was not fun. The last one is no where to be seen but on the x-ray and I am getting close to 30. Don’t worry about your wisdom teeth yet when they come in you’ll have enough time to worry about what action you can take.

I was 23 when I got my wisdom teeth and 26 when I had them pulled. I only got the top ones, eveyone is different, but stress over it, it’s not like they will invade your mouth overnight. Relax.

To allay your fears, just on your next Dentist visit, get x-rays….that’ll give you a picture of what’s going on back there if anything….plus with the Dr’s input you’ll be put at ease.

I am a Dental Assistant…the only way to know for sure if there is enough room in your mouth for wisdom teeth is to have an x-ray taken at your dentist’s office. Some people are lucky enough to not have them pulled. If there is not enough room for wisdom teeth, your teeth will crowd and eventually make a mess of your mouth. To answer your questions…1)Not everyone has wisdom teeth..those who do (which most people do) may not have all 4..they may have all 4 or they may have less. Wisdom teeth usually start becoming a problem in the late teens or very early 20’s.

  1. When the Dr. sees the x-ray, they will tell you when you should have them pulled or like I said, if you’re lucky, you may not need them pulled at all. What usually happens is the wisdom tooth comes in on some sort of angle which is the causing concern. I hope this helped :)

I have all four of my wisdom teeth. They grew in with plenty of room to fit. I may have them pulled because it is so damned hard to brush them though. My wife had hers pulled because they were causing her headaches and didn’t quite fit right. Everyone has different wisdom teeth possibilities and not all of them threaten your other teeth.

you are asking us like we are dentists cuz! i had like 2 wisdom teeth pulled! i had braces and i went to the dentist alot as a kid! it is my understanding that most people get wisdom teeth! if i were you when you are inquisitive about your teeth then you probably better consult a dentist! if your teeth are the way you say they are then once your wisdom teeth come in then your grill is probably gonna look funny than a mug cuz so just stay on top of the game so you won’t get any surprises and you should be good to go! my mom dropped hella dollars on my teeth when i was a kid and now i am too sexy for my shirt!
