Can cutting wisdom teeth make you really sick and sore?

My wisdom tooth on my bottom rightside jaw is cutting. It has been for a few days it seems it has gotten bad. The whole right side of my face is swollen as well as my gland under it. Over the past few days it seems both gland became sore. I recently got flu like symptoms that cleared up in a day but I’m still very sore and fatigued. My tooth is extremely sore to the touch and my cheek is swollen so much that when I smile only the left side moves.

Is this normal? If it was infected I would expect a foul taste and maybe some fluids but I don’t see or taste any.
