Will my puppy bleed on her period and how much does the spray cost?

hi I just adopted my puppy. She’s 5 months or so, thats what the girl told me. Will she bleed, feel any pain or discomfort when she gets her period? How much is the spray?

When a puppy goes into their 1st heat, it is usually about 6 mons. or so of age…please do not breed her at than age…she is way too young to breed…she will swell up some & she will spot bleed, not pour out blood…she will lick herself there a lot…this is called being in heat…she will not be in any pain when she goes into heat…I wouldn’t put her or allow her to be on any furniture during this time…unless you don’t mind cleaning up small blood spots…when the bleeding stops she’ll go into full heat, if you have a male there too, you should keep them apart during this whole time…so they don’t breed. If your going to get her fixed, it is better to do this when she’s about 8 - 10 weeks old…this is called spaying…In IL. you can go to the animal control place & get a voucher from your vet, they go according to amount of income in your household…on how much would be charged for spaying…she will be put to sleep…so she won’t feel any pain…when she wakes up she might need some pain killers from there or from your vet, if you get her fixed (spayed) it will also reduce the cost of her tags for her rabies shot to a lower price for her being fixed…it will be 1/2 price…like here where I live, a spayed dog would be $15…where if she wasn’t fixed it would cost $30…dichihuahua

You mean the spay? It depends on where you take her… There are low cost places that do it for free or for as low as $25/35, you just have to look for them… If you call the humane society or the local animal shelter they will be able to point you in the right direction…

This is a listing of places in your state http://www.lovethatcat.com/stil.html

If you go to a vet they can charge you anywhere from $100-250

It’s too late to do it at 8 or 10 weeks, huh?

BUT, you can do it now, and save yourself a lot hassle with the male dogs who’ll “smell” her from as far as 2 miles away…Like everyone said, there are Spay and Neuter Clinics who’ll do it for $15 to $35…You have to take care of her for the first few days…ie…don’t let her run and play, or lick her incision…It’s hard to keep them down, but walks on the leash are fine…

DITTO to all the above…too!
