Why is he treating me like this? Need opinions please!

Im having a hard time understanding his intentions

This guy I had a past with but found out to be a player, is back in my life. Over the summer, he liked 2 girls but ended up dating one of them and then cheating on her after she moved away for school in less than a week. At that time, he wanted nothing to do with me. However, during the start of school, he kept contact with me but moreso when he was cheating on his girlfriend. Now, months later, he talks to me everyday. He initiates it all by either texts or online conversation. I’ve also hung out with him a few times.

What I dont understand is why he is doing this. He doesnt touch me as much he did his girlfriend, but he also cheated on her which leads me to believe he didnt really care about her or respect her truly. He talks provactively with me and also subtly touches me, but I dont think he wants to be with me. Im sad cause he’s sent his other girlfriends and interests presents and held hands with them in public but with me he holds back and secretly touches me. I know him, if he didnt care or want something, he wouldnt try.

Why is he talking to me and doing all these things if he hasnt asked me to be in a relationship? I feel inferior to how he treated his last girlfriend, but should I?
