Why has my 4 year old cat started peeing on my bed?

My little female tortie cat has started peeing on beds/sofa! Why? I got a new kitten about 4 weeks ago…But in the last 4 days my older cat has started peeing on my bed…will she stop, is she upset, what is wrong?!!? help…

Answer #1

The kitten may of laid there and the other cat is just territorial, like normal. To avoid this try keeping the kitten off the furniture along with the other cat. What helps is to cut a box and put old carpet squares and pillows in it for each so they have their own. A litter box may help to.

Well, cats don’t like anything new…and they are also VERY territorial…If your bed, and the sofa are places she likes to be, then I think she’s marking her spaces…

she is probably just showing the kitten whos boss and is marking which territory is hers and which territory is the kittens. once the older cat gets used to the kitten she will most likely stop peeing everywhere. but it is strange that it just started and not when you first got the new cat. if it doesnt stop within the next few weeks, take her to the vet because if shes getting old maybe she cant make it to the litter box. she may not have a clean enough litter box for her liking . so try cleaning her cat box more often. Hope I Helped!!! fun mail me if you have more questions!!!

she’s jelous of the new cats. maybe she feels your not giving her enough attention. So she’s acting out.
