Why would an 8yr old cat start pooping on our couch?

My 8yr old cat has been poping on our couch. She uses her litter box to pee in, not to poop. We also have an 8 month old kitten who does not do any of this. Could it be from the stress of the new kitten in my older cats world right now? We have had the kitten for 7months and this behavior is somewhat new. Happend a few times months ago, was fine until now. Seems to be happening everyday lately.

Anytime an animal displays a big behavior change, then the first thing to do is get it checked out with the Vet.

The kitten is at an age where it’s beginning to mature, and with that come hormones…for a cat (or dog), there is probably an oder associated with it. It’s so hard to tell with a cat, because the tiniest changes in their lives can send them off the normal keel.

it may have lost control of its bladder and like an old person in diapers… it cant control where it goes because it just kind of falls through the body.. if it hides it know it was doing something wrong but it it WAS potty trained and it hides after doing this.. it just doesnt want you to get mad at it. cats have feelings too. lol.

My cat started peeing on the rug on our bathroom, he had diabetes. Get him checked out.
