Why does it hurt my girlfriend?

Why does it hurt my girlfriend when we start to have sex? She is in so much pain when I put it in that it kinda kills the mood. She is wet and everything and I try to finger her until she practically begs me to start and when I put it in I can see her in a lot of pain for about two minutes so I take it reallyyy slow until it stops hurting her.
