Why does everyone want to be skinny?

Girl, yeah it’s important to be healthy but seriously, stop beating yourself up because of your weight. When you feel fat and ugly you look it. You can still be pretty. and stop reading magazines, I dont, they just make you feel imperfect.

self esteem is a touchy topic for most and self image problems which are closely linked to eating disorders of all kinds are usually not about food at all . It’s generally not a “choice” as much as it is an “expectation” for ones self for example , when a girl who is going through a stressful divorce between her two parents feels the need f “control” she may end up restricting her food intake as a sense of something she believes she has total control over. and it’s totally true the media has EVERYTHING to do with the self conscience women and girls in our society they are all a bunch of lies and luckily I was in fact able to turn my eating disorder around and realize that it wasn’t my fault and the images portrayed as “perfect” were simply digital ideas of perfection . I was lucky but sooo many girls wont be able to and so it’s not a matter of “ why does everyone want to be skinny” , maybe you should ask “why does the media continue to push this unrealistic ideal image on the public, why can’t the woman who has four kids and is a single mom that works and has laugh lines and sun spots be considered perfect? “ I think thats the question you should be asking.

Things would be much easier for a lot of people if you could just say to yourself..” oh ok…yeah, I’m to just stop being self concious about my weight and self image TODAY” In a perfect world that would be an option, to just have that kind of mental turn around where you could logically talk yourself out of that kind of negative thinking…Do you think people who feel poorly about themselves, enjoy it? Do you think that it is something that people want to do to themselves? I’m going to go one step further and say, media isnt to blame ENTIRELY..I capitalized that word because I feel that a lot of people are going to miss that word and think Im saying media is not to blame at all…but I think most people do know by this juncture, that magazines and what have you, are airbrushed and fixed and made to look flawless and that models and celebrities have imperfections like everyone else. I dont think that is the issue here. I think the real issue is that some of us, have something going on much deeper…that stems for a self image or self esteem problem that is rooted far deeper then vogue or cosmos latest cover. And I dont mean the plethora of 14 or 15 year old girls who submit questions asking im such and such a height, and such and such a weight, am I a good weight.??? or how can I become bulemic? That is not what bulemia or anorexia is like at all…they dont ask how to become like that!!! .you dont question people am I a good weight..?? You look in the mirror everyday and you see fat…and you hate your self…you dont give your measurements online and ask if they are ok…thats just looking for approval in a different way..thats a whole diffierent topic… Just looking at the sentance you wrote “when you feel fat and ugly you look it. you can still be pretty.” I dont even know what that means!!! Thats like saying…when you are sick..just dont be sick.. I mean yeah..of course…poof…its totally that easy…why do we have psychologists…weird

what I meant when I said ‘when you feel fat and ugly you look it…’’ is that if a girl looks in the mirror and thinks ‘god I’m so fat… I’m totally discusting… blah blah…’ you can see how self concious she is, you can see what she is feeling easily. but whrn a girl thinks she is pretty or beautiful you can see that too, confidence makes you gorgeous.

Largely because women in the US anyway have deluded themselves into what they view as sexy. If you ask men to look at pictures of women of varying sizes and identify which ones they find the sexiest, a substantial majority will pick women who are size 8-10. Nobody likes obsese and it isn’t healthy either, but men generally like a fit healthy looking woman–we are designed that way. Hit the gym, stay fit and eat well and the rest should take care of itself. Super thin chicks (I’ve slept with many) tend to have strange odors emanating from their orifices and are susceptible to excessive facial and body hair. Don’t be one of them–it isn’t sexy.
