Why does everyone call people like me emo?

because people stereotype way too much

emo is also a style now as is every other music genre (goth, metal, scene, rap(gangster), ect) and by the way you look, you resemble other people who dress emo if your not emo, then good for you but obviously people are going to judge you based on the way you look this is normal, and unfortunantly almost everyone does it, probably even you so your just going to have to deal with those people who do you shouldnt let it get to you though

Im not sure where it came from but I deff wouldnt want to be labeled on a depressive type. maybe its the darkeness not sure.

yeah its just a stupid stereotype. plus poepl use it as an insult, I mean I get it all them time. The true def of emo is someone who is emotional even suicidal. People shouldnt judge because of clothes or hair

“emo” is a stereotype same as calling someone gangster, it doesn’t classify a person personality or how they act around others =)

actually last I checked I haven’t heard of music being classified as emo then again there is metal, heavy metal, punk rock, rock but I’m not aware of emo being a music genre. As for people being jealous let them be jealous for your doing what you like to do and jealousy isn’t going to stop you from doing that is it?

well, when someone is emo, they things differently, and so does gangsta. gansters take it as a compliment if you call them gangstas. but when a emo person is called a emo person, they take it as an insult.. I guess it just depends on how you recieve what people say.

No matter what you are or like people are going to label you because its the only way their ignorant little minds can make themselves feel more comfortable about other people they really don’t know or understand. if they see a black guy standing in the street dressed in baggy jeans long t shirt Jesus chain and red bandanna they label him thug selling drugs when he may just as well be a christian who likes that style and is standing on the corner waiting for the city bus. same way they see people that dress like you and think you’re an emo cutter or trouble maker. I know it sucks.

its just what people do, they judge..if your not emotional, some people might call you scene..people call me scene and emo, but as long as they dont call me emo, im mkayy with it. screw what they think of me, im me. I really dont give a crap what they say about me, they can judge all they like. people feel better when they are in a steryotpye, because they know what group they are in.
