Why can't I start my story when I already have the ending?

You could base it on a hidden love between the boy and the girl, as for example her dad is strict and over controling. Then you have her father finding out and have the boy and girl running away, only in the end to be torn apart or something like that. Hope it helps

I understand you don’t a very good handle on story structure. Building a narrative around an ending is like building a car around a leather interior. It doesn’t matter that the words that came to you first are words that you think would make a good ending, without a cohesive arc and relateable characters, those words might as well not exist.

You can’t start your story because you’ve started in the wrong place. A story is about character progression, getting the reader involved with their lives and caring about them as though they were real. It doesn’t matter if they are involved in the most mundane details of life as long as the reader is invested in the outcome.

What you’ve done is conjure a scene for titillation, for shock value, with nothing invested behind it. Start at the beginning, not the end. By the time you get there, you may find that the ending is completely different than what you had imagined.
