Why are all the great scientists, physicans all men?
Why are all the great scientists, physicans, mathematicians, philosophers etc men? Everywhere we hear great names like newton, einstein, plato, aristotle etc and they’re all men. I mean most of them cause I know there are some women too but they’re just not so famous. Men aren’t smarter than women are they? I don’t understand.
No, men aren’t smarter…If you dream it, do the necessary work…you can achieve it…You go !!
The reason back in this time is what was expected of men and women. This is way before the women’s rights movement. During this time men “brought home the bacon”. They had the important jobs and so every great step and advance in the world of science was done by a man. During this time, women were expected to cook, clean, make babies, and look pretty doing it. Don’t get me wrong, they didn’t have a negative view against them, they simply took the Bible too literally. The Bible says for a woman to obey her husband, because he’s the master of the household, yet it says for a man to cherish his wife. Basically it’s saying the man has the final word, but we all now how much influence a woman can have on a man. So there’s no REAL imbalance of power there. There were, however, plenty of powerful women far back in history. Ever heard of Joan of Arc, Queen Elizabeth, or Cleopatra?
I see that you are talking about men from an old era when the woman was treated just as a means to satisfy the desire of men OR just a housewife serves her husband and raises children. I think the woman there wasn’t able to look any further than that .! It was the era of MEN. man is the master, has the atmosphere to innovate But Nowadays, Woman became much more free and has her own mentality and be 100% equal to man. so she has the ability to invent and innovate. And the clear evidence that ( at least ) at schools and college, girls are who have the higer grades than boys :D
I think its just coincidence and also because back then women were only supposed to be housewives so in the future we might start seeing more and more great women
society is very sterotypical, and very sexist. there are lots of professional females out there in the world who have done great things, but you dont hear about them as much.
Your naming men from a different Era. In that era is was very very uncommon for a woman to get an education. If you look into mot modern sciences/math you will see women are now a larger part.
Not so…here are some very well known women in those fields:
Clara Berton Marie Curie Jane Goodall Florence Nightingale Sally Ride Anne Finch Catharine Trotter
The lists are practically endless.
Mostly seem to be men but if you research and look deep you will see that there are woman who have made a change in our world…
Then men are the most named because before men use to have the power and become famous and woman who could become famous werent mention as much, but there is still woman outhere…
Gender roles were much stricter in the past than they were today. It was much more difficult for women to get education and opportunities in the past. That is so many occupations were exclusively for men.
It’s because in the past women were not given the same education as men and most were only taught cooking/sewing and how to run a household. Some women overcame this and became famous but were thought of negativly by many as having neglected their womanly job. This has been changing as time goes on and women are thought of as equals, now that women can get the same eduction as men they will be heard from more often.
To quote Nietzsche
‘Where neither love nor hate are in play, woman is a mediocre player.’
I’m pretty sure there have been studies on this, which suggest that in terms of IQ men tend to be more exceptional, albeit exceptionally stupid or intelligent, whereas women tend to be average… However that doesn’t mean there aren’t smart women.
Or we can go on with the it’s men subjugating the woman nonsense, presumably an excuse which will still continue to be made for eternity…
