Is it true that scientists have found the neutrino subatomic particle?

a neutrino is a particle that is faster than the speed of light, if it really exists then, everything we know is wrong, the other day i heard about an article where European scientists found this neutrino, is this true or not?, thanks :*)

Answer #1

They think they might had done it but they need more solid evidence. http://funadvice.com/r/15dsilia3mt

Answer #2

Yes they have found it for sure.but they are not sure that it is faster than light so they will be remeasuring the speed.

Answer #3

It is a concept that forms a cornerstone of our understanding of the universe and the concept of time – nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.

But now it seems that researchers working in one of the world’s largest physics laboratories, under a mountain in central Italy, have recorded particles travelling at a speed that is supposedly forbidden by Einstein’s theory of special relativity.

Scientists at the Gran Sasso facility will unveil evidence on Friday that raises the troubling possibility of a way to send information back in time, blurring the line between past and present and wreaking havoc with the fundamental principle of cause and effect.

They will announce the result at a special seminar at Cern – the European particle physics laboratory – timed to coincide with the publication of a research paper (pdf) describing the experiment.

Answer #4

What exactly would it change in the world?

Answer #5

Our lives will continue as normal but many Scientific, Physics and Quantum Physics formulas and laws will have to be rewritten. Also more mathematical formulas will be develop and theories that will prove on paper that traveling to the past or the future will be possible.

Answer #6

Right now the theory is NOTHING can go faster than the speed of light. If anything did (even something as small as a neutrino) it throws a lot of things out the window for physics.

Answer #7

Oh i see. Wow.

Answer #8

Not yet, the researchers at at the CERN lab near Geneva had to reconfirm their results before they are confirmed as a discovery.
