Why am I gaining weight when eating so little and exercising?

I am a 15 year old girl. (5’6.5 and 128lbs.) I wanted to lose weight. My goal weight is 120. I have been eating 1,100 calories everyday and exercising for at least an hour a day (cardio and a few muscle strengthening activities but mostly cardio) After one week I weighed myself and I now weigh 132…WHY?!?! :(

Answer #1

maybe your just growing or you have a slow metabolism

Answer #2

In not taking in enough calories, your body goes into ‘starvation’ mode. It holds onto any fat in your body, and the food you DO eat isn’t metabolized right, and the body begins to store it as fat. Add that to the muscle mass you are gaining from the gym, and viola. Weight gain.

Lose weight the right, healthy way. Eat smaller portions of lean protein, vegetables, fruits and whole grain starches. Your body will drop the weight as soon as you take in enough calories to make the energy for it to do so.

Answer #3

thanks guys but I am not starving myself…I’m not dumb. If I was I would faint…trust me because I am anemic. I don’t even get hunger pains or anything when eating 1,100 calories. That really isn’t bad. It is probably muscle. Thanks.

Answer #4

probaby because your starving yourself when you dont eat properly, even if you xerscise like mad any food you do eat will be put on as fat, becaue your body is hungry and your not feeding it right so its putting on all the food you do eat as fat which is probably why your gaining weight that or its also because your gaining muscle and muscle weight more than fat does either way, start eating more food, because starving yourself isnt right and realise that muscle weights more than fat so dont freak out over it
