Answer #1

Because people wrote it. People are hypocrites, and will do whatever it takes to get other people to live in a world they built out of their morals.

As ‘reverend666’ points out, the Bible as we know it today is not one single, logically coherent document.

It is a collection of many different amounts from different sources and different languages, and has been put together (and revised and changed) over the centuries.

The contradictions between the Old Testament and the New Testament are especially big, but also within each ‘testament’ and sometimes even within the same chapter there are differences.

The important thing is to read the Bible for inspiration and spiritual guidance if you are a Christian, focusing on the parts that are most important to you in your own life.

If there are specific points or differences you wonder about, you’ll find that many of them have been studied and discussed in depth by theologians and Bible scholars, and a google search can bring up relevant text references for you.

Hey Jane-of-the-Jungle,

..because the Bible is a rather messy collection of views written down by many different and vastly ignorant un-educated men…

Answer #5

The Old and New Testaments, have two different depictions of God, for two different religions: OT (Torah, Hebrew Bible, Judaism) and the NT (Christianity).

Answer #6

this cannot be the work of GOD. As God says in the scriptures” the Quran” if THIS QURAN was written by any other than God You would have found many contradictions in it. Please read the Quran because IT does NOT have contradictions like the Bible. and any logical conclusion to these contradictions as the QURAN says is that THE BIBLE is NOT the word of God

Answer #7

I imagine you would find contradictions in any compilation of related works covering a 1000 year time span.

Answer #8

in my honest opinion; I think you are expecting more from God who made us in His own image than He can satisfactorily give you. He has moods and feelings and reverses Himself when the situation warrants. He once repented for even creating man, but decided to come in human form to redeem us to Himself. In the final analysis, He loves us. Whether or not you choose to wrap your mind around it, is entirely up to you. To the thinking man, no explanation is possible; to the spiritual man, no explanation is necessary. ^There are more things in heaven and earth Horatio than are dreampt of in your philosophy^ ~ William Shakespeare

Answer #9

Ok, first of all God was satisfied with his work. it wasn’t until we messed it up by eating the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil that we rebelled and messed up the world. God could have struck us all dead right there but He gave us a second chance with Noah and the ark. He is amazing and never says something He doesn’t mean.
