Do you believe we evolved or God made us?

Do you believe that we evolved from animals, or do you think that god made us? I personally think that we evolved, but I was just wondering…

Answer #1

A search in the book of Genesis for the word ‘evolve or evolved’, met with negative results:

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Answer #2

Some people see God using evolution in these verses (life arising from the sea and the earth):

1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

1:22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

1:23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

I don’t understand why some believers feel the need to limit their god so. It’s almost as if it offends them personally. Who knows?

Answer #3

God made us. Duh. How could we evolve from something so stupid as a monkey? and if we did what happened to all the animals that didnt evolve? they couldnt have all evolved at the same time

Answer #4

There’s not scientific evidence proving we did, there’s a missing link that’s still, well, missing. There’s scientific evidence pointing out it’s a possibility, just like there’s the Bible pointing out the other possibility. Neither can be proved or disproved.

Answer #5

we are god’s greatest creation,we are different from other creatures, god gave us brain to think and understand beside feelings that we can’t live without it,so its hard to believe that we evolved from other creatures.

Answer #6

I believe in evolution, without any god. Just natural laws.

And to quote danbob, >>> Rockingrl728’s asked a question which only requires a simple answer - not a tirade on why people are ‘wrong’. Everyone’s entitled to their beliefs - can we please respect them this time and just say what you believe, and nothing more.<<<

Answer #8

Thats a touchy subject thats why its kept out of the school system. In my opinion I believe we evolved and there is scientific edvience proving we did. Im not saying I don’t believe in god I go to church every sunday but its hard to believe god created everything and the whole adam and eve story its very unbelievable

Answer #9

I accept the overwhelming evidence that humans and all other primates descended from a common ancestor through the process of evolution as guided by natural selection. I don’t see any reason to believe that any supernatural beings were involved in this process but I realize that our evolution has nothing to do with how life began. Those are two separate questions.

Answer #10

You wonderful people! You are cheering me up so much! I’ve been under a lot of pressure to believe in an anti-evolution type of Christianity, and I know this is wrong, but it’s good to hear that I’m not alone.

Answer #11

One either accepts the Bible to be the word of God from cover to cover or doesn’t - I believe what it says - God created Man.

Answer #12

Evolution is the continuation of Creationism. I see no contradiction in believing both.

Answer #13

we evolved.

Answer #14

easy, god made us evolve.

Answer #15

Exactly the same answer as Danbob - pleased to see I’m not the only one here!

Answer #16

I believe that god made us.. I dont believe in evolvation…

…evolvation???

chuckles

That sounds like a new OBGYN term.

Answer #17

I believe that god made us.. I dont believe in evolvation…

Answer #18

I believe God made us, AND that we Evolved - Evolution was God’s tool to make us.

And, for once, can we please not have people telling others that what they believe is wrong - it’s only going to turn into another flame war. Rockingrl728’s asked a question which only requires a simple answer - not a tirade on why people are “wrong”. Everyone’s entitled to their beliefs - can we please respect them this time and just say what you believe, and nothing more.

Danbob (who’s plea will probably go unheeded…sigh)

Answer #19

I believe in both.

Answer #20

I believe that God created everything. I also believe in evolution. There is scientific proof that man has evolved (a long with everything else). Evolution, just means you’re genes changed to adapt to your suroundings. No, I don’t believe we came from apes or anything, if that were true, would apes even exist anymore? Wouldn’t they still slowy be evolving?
