When my dad sleep walkes what should we do?

Ok heres the thing my dad has bipolar disorder he is getting als timers and pretty much loseing it hes been sleep walking every night for the last like 3 weeks at least 3 times a night it not the sleep walking im worried about its he gets dangerous when he does it he looks for knives or he will grab a bat last night when he was sleep walking he said he was going to kill everybody in the house then he went to his room grabbed his weapon of choice im not going to say what well the point it we all had to run out the house and call my older brother to come pick us up its getting really bad and really scary we all have to sleep with our doors locked at night now what should we do I feel so bad for my mom shes up all night with him makeing sure he dont leave the house or anything and then she has to go to work exhausted I dont know what to do ene more

ok the response above was VERY unhelpful…if anything it probably ,made you more upset. you should really try and get him to a therapist. there are people out there who specialise in dream therapy and they may be able to help stopping him getting violent in his sleep. I am not specialised but it could be that he is worried he will not be there for you all soon, maybe he is trying to fight off things that can hurt you when he is asleep, but of course he is asleep and cant tell reality from his dream.

I STRONGLY suggest you see a doctor or a therapist for advice. leaving this up to yourself will only make it more dangerous. I hope this was useful. =) I hope this was useful.

I’m sorry I can’t help but one of my friends her dad is bipolar and threw his wife off the stairs while sleep walking she almost died
