When is the right time to potty train?

Ihave 2 children a 3 year old and a 17 month old-ok so I potty trained my 3 yr when he was 2 and a half, but my 17month old is showing signs of wanting to potty train e.g grabbing nappy and saying wee wee.so do I start or is it too early?

Answer #1

Each child is different. If they are showing signs of wanting to potty train, by all means. Usually if you have two children, the younger one will try to be like the older one. So if the older one is already potty trained, the younger one will want to be too. It is not too soon to start.

Answer #2

Theres no set time they will let you know when they are ready. I mean don’t let them not be potty trained till there like 6 but just help him now because he wants to right?

Answer #3

Sometimes when kids have older siblings they imitate their older siblings and can be potty trained a little early. There are countries in the world where they’re potty trained at 10 months, so if he’s ready you can start.

Answer #4

Your kids will tell you if they’re ready. Signs indicating such should be responded to. It’s never too early. Even if you just start changing th ediaper in the potty so he or she associates the act with the place, it’s a start. Letting the kid watch you or flush after you go are other options. Take it as a good sign and run with it :-)
