When do I change from formula to hard food?

Just rescued pit pup. Need help on care. Pups only 5 days old. Just wanna make sure doing the right thing?

5 days old is really young to be away from their mom. If the puppy is not eating or drinking feed the puppy from a squeeze tube until it can do it on its own. Hard food comes about 3 to 4 months after it is born. But still soke to hard food it a little water so it is not to hard that lasts for about 2 1/2 months,

If they’re only 5 days old, you should talk to a veterinarian to be shure the pups get exectly the right stuff. If they was with their mom, they would drink her milk for several weeks, so maybe they should get some supplement for that,,

I’ll send you an invite to our dog group here. There are a couple of breeders on there who have bottle fed many pups, and know all the in’s and outs. You’ll want to go to Walmart and pick up a little food scale, as this pup should be gaining weight every single day. He also needs to be kept quite warm.

I can tell you that this pup needs to be bottle fed every two to three hours all day all night (no sleep for you :) )…they start moving to solid food when their teeth start coming in…at around 4 weeks. At that time you’ll start supplementing the bottle with puppy chow (soaked in warm water to make it soft).
