Changed my dogs brand of dry dog food

I recently changed by dogs dry food from iams to canidace dry chicken and rice dry food. they won’t eat it. what can I do to get them to eat the new dog food? do I leave the food out for them until they get hungry enough?

Answer #1

put traets in it then out less and less every day then they wolt kknow when theres noo treats left

Answer #2

Yeh if ou still have some of theold dog food then mix some of that in with the new food. We did that with our dog.

Or you could just leave the food there. When they get hungry enough thy will eat it.

OR if you give your dogs your left overs you can mix that through with the new food

Answer #3

Ditto to brokenwings and editor…take about 7 days to change them completely to the Canidae…mixing in less and less each day…

Answer #4

Just make sure you slowly change the food. Mix some of the old food with the new food little by little, it should take about a week for you to change it completely. This will help them get accustomed to the new food and will make sure their stomachs don’t hurt through the transition.

Answer #5

we did the same to our dog cause his smell and we were told to change his food… well we did and they said its just cause its diffirent and if he is hungry enough he will eat it good luck :)

Answer #6

do you still have some of the old food left? if you do mix a little bit of the food they will eat with the nes stuff and eventually stop putting it in there and they should eat it, we had that problem with our cats (I know, different animal) but still it worked… so good luck.

Answer #7

mix ome of the old in with the new and each time put in more new and less old.

Answer #8

try putting just a little tomato juice or peanut butter on it. dogs seem to love the taste.
