What's the best thing to paint with - acrylic, water colors, or ...?

Depends on what sort of effect you like and which you’re more comfortable with. I personally find that water colors are harder. With water colors, if you try to paint something light, and do it too dark, there’s really no going back. You have to learn how to layer your colors with water colors, well, to achieve a good water color picture. With acrylic, you can layer your colors, and if you make a mistake, easily paint a new layer over it. I’d recommend playing around with acrylics first unless you are dead-set on learning water colors, then be sure to practice :)

I like tempera:P But i don’t do real-life looking stuff when it comes to painting xD But it works really good regardless and the colors come out great:P

I prefer oil paint as it takes a while to dry and once you get it it is a lot easier to blend and shadow with it. Acrylic is pretty good if you are beginner as it dries almost instantly so you can paint over your mistakes. Water colour I haven’t used as I prefer one of the above.
