The reading out loud idea is on the right track because it accentuates any spelling mistakes you might have made while writing something. You can also have someone else read it for you so they can not only catch onto the spelling mistakes, but also grammatical mistakes which is where a lot of people have trouble with.

What you can also do is have your outline handy to make sure that what you have written as the key points on your outline translate CLEARLY into your essay or composition. The transitioning is what always got to me and trust me, having an outline handy really makes all the difference.

You also need to make sure if it’s just a thematic essay that you are bringing up the BEST points and not points that can be passed as minor details. Think of it in the sense of having the choice of picking your favorite food or a food that’s good but not quite the best.

Rewriting also helps like Makie stated. With that you’ll be able to make corrections as you go along and on top of that, add any details you missed; granted you have your outline and first draft handy!

Answer #8

Reading out loud helps because you can find the mistake. Reading inside your head you can easily pass by it.

Lol, funny how words have different common uses. In the U.S. revise would be to edit something. In British english, it is more commonly used to indicate study/memorize something. Given you’re from the U.K. my guess is you mean to study it. I basically summarize and then just keep re-reading the stuff over and over again. I like to summarize on my computer, that way when I am sure I’ve memorized certain things, I can remove them from my sheet, and just keep re-reading the things I haven’t memorized. I also always make sure to go back the next morning over things to make sure I have everything down pat. And it really just depends on how you learn. I learn by reading and then writing. So I will sometimes summarize my summaries. And re-write things several times. Some people learn through listening. So I’d record the paragraph and then just listen to it several times. Some people learn by reading, so just re-read it over and over. Some people are more visual, so try to attach pictures and symbols that bring up pictures. Mnemonics are great, I used them to study all sorts of lists.
