whats the difference between a visa and a green card?

Answer #1

A Green Card identifies you as a legal resident of the country, while a visa only allows you to apply for entry into the country.

Most non-citizens get a Visa first and then apply for a Green Card once they are in the country.

If your Visa or Green Card is about to expire, you must renew it or leave the country to be allowed to come back.
