hey there ! :) I am a somatology student (beauty & fitness). I study nutrition and maybe my advice can help you. (But before I begin, on the topic of ice-> Very harmful to your teeth. Teeth become very sensitive as well as brittle. Ice is also linked to affecting your body’s health when eaten regularly.)

Ok, firstly from your situation I can tell that you are a teenager? At this age, it’s absolutely important for you to get the right type of nutrition. I’m gonna try to make this as simple as possible :) . Our bodies need different types of food throughout the day to get the vital nutrients and vitamins to grow and be healthy. These foods come from 5 different groups :

1.) Carbohydrates/Starch ( eg. Breads, Cereal, Maize, rice, potato) - These are for energy

2.) Milk & Milk products (dairy) (eg. Milk, cheese, yoghurt.) - These are needed for calcium for strong bones and teeth.

3.) Fruit & Veg (eg. Apples, beetroot, carrots.) - These are needed for vitamins and minerals.

4.) Meat & Meat products (eg. Chicken, fish, eggs) - These are needed for muscle repair and use protein to make cells in your body

5.) Fats & Oils (eg. Omega 3 oils, Butter, olive oil.) - These are needed for healthy skin and hair.

To have a balanced meal, you need to have foods from each group. Starving yourself or not eating only leads your body into a state of shock and so your body stores fat because it thinks it’s not going to get anymore. ( so your body says “ Oh no ! im losing fat quick ! I better put some away or I’m going to die! lol)

Your body loses fat through having a high metabolism. ( The process of energy being used constantly to burn fat stores.) A high metabolism can only be achieved by excercising and eating healthy low fat meals 5 times a day.

So it would be a good idea to have breakfast, then 2 hours later a small snack, then lunch, then 2 hours later a small snack, then supper.

ok now theres somthing called Hi GI foods and Low GI foods. Hi GI foods are bad for you. They spike up your sugar levels and make you feel hungry quicker. Low GI foods are healthier amd keep you fuller for longer.

Eg’s of low gi foods: Whole GRAIN (not wheat) breads, bran flakes, some fish etc. You can even research what foods are low gi. There are many.

Small things such as skim or low fat milk is very good for you, especailly at this age, as you need to build strong bones and teeth for your adult years. Full cream milk has bad fats that can be unhealthy. (Bananas are a hi GI food, so dont eat them unless after a heavy workout.)

As for bringing food to school… Think about it this way ok? If the other kids want to throw down junk into their trunk, all they gonna get in a couple of years is bad skin, fat and depression.. lol and yes I’m being serious it happens. So bring good foods to school to snack on like fat free yoghurt, almonds, Oat bars, apples, dried fruit, and I can guarantee you wont regret it.

I hope my advice has helped you a bit :)

All the best & goodluck ! <3
