What Shall I Do?

I am 13 years old and really want a puppy, but as most parents they have said no because it is a big responsibilty. How can I perswade my parents to let me get a puppy?

show them that they can trust you

show them how responsible you are and make it apparent. ask them what they need help with, and do it with a smile. ask them what you can do to prove to them to let you have an animal. there right though-it is a big responsibility. food, care, love, collar, vet visits, emergency care, etc. just stay with it and hopefully soon they will come around! :)

See if there is an “Adopt an animal for the day” program where you live. It may not be called exactly that, but there are programs in place where you can adopt a dog for a day, weekend, or even a week to see what it would be like. Try to get them to do that and then just prove you can handle the responsibility of a puppy 100% on your own.

No matter how mature or trustworthy you are, in a few years you’ll be out of the house, and your parents will be stuck with a dog they didnt want in the first place. Wait till you have a place of your own, and then get a dog..
