What is the best breed of draft horse to ride under saddle?

I was just wandering which breed of draft would make the best saddle and cart horse?

Answer #1

If you’re looking for a horse which will go well under saddle and pull a cart or carriage, have a look at the Cleveland Bay. This was originally bred to pull carriages and is still used for that purpose.

It has a calm temperament like the big draft horses, but also makes a good riding horse or heavy hunter.

Cleveland Bays stand at around 16.2 h.h.
