what is statutory rape? and what counts as it?

what is it in basics?

and what kinds of things, even the littlest, count as molestation and/or statutoryness? I have always wondered because I try to look out for my friends and myself and my family.

Anything with an adult asking a minor for sex or touching them wrong that they shouldnt,

Statuatory rape is sex with someone under a certain age (varies by state), even if it was consensual. Most states I’ve heard recently have been 16, but I have heard of one state awhile ago (ufortunatley, can’t remember which one) which used 14!! That is appalling, as is any age under 18 as far as I believe. Molestation is touching the breast or genitals of someone else…anything that is covered by a bathing suit is what is taught to children nowadays. Any kind of touch that makes them/u uncomfortable.

In children.if rape or molestation has occured you may notice a reluctance of the child to be around that person (if someome they know, family member or friend), need for privacy—early modesty where they do not want anyone to see them without clothes—this doesn’t usually occur normally in children until around 10–give or take a year or 2 depending on the child), you may notice bruises around the genitalia, recurrent nightmares in kids who normally sleep very well, there are numerous signs. you can google signs and symptoms of rape or abuse and come up with a multitude of sites for more info.

Unfortunately. This happens WAY too often, and is often a family member or a friend of the family. Just keep an eye out and stay in tune with their behaviors and actions and you will notice if something is amiss. Hopefully you and your family will never have to deal with this horrible, horrendous problem.

I believe that anything that falls under the heading of Unlawful Carnal Knowledge of a Minor- perpetrated by an adult, would be statutory rape.

which would include. sexual intercourse manual stimulation of a sexual organ (fingering) oral sex asking someone underage to “flash” their private parts

I think that even approaching a minor and asking for sex could fall under that heading.

I AM NOT A LAWYER- and the above definitions are what I have come to understand would be covered by the heading statutory rape. I could be wrong on the approaching a minor for sex- that may be under another law.

Answer #4

I think it’s all bogus. If some one chooses to have sex, it’s not rape. but if anything is forced upon you, it is.

If you want to get technical, legal, whatever… then yes, statutory rape is an “adult” having sex with a “child”

but to be honest, if one chooses to engage in sexual behaviour, then rape shouldn’t even be an issue. And I think this is true, regardless of age (within reason)

Answer #5

Any sexual touching between an adult and minor is statutory rape. Generally a minor is someone under the age of 18 and an adult is 18+ but in some states a minor is 16- so it depends where you live. Even if the minor gives the adult permission to have sex, it’s still called statutory rape because the minor isn’t mature enough to make the right choices.
