What have you been taught?

Do woman have 13 ribs and men only 11? AND is your heart located on the left side of your chest? (I know the answer to these, too. Do you?)

Answer #1

Yes, I know the answers.

Answer #2

Both men and women have 12 pair of ribs.

I first came across the claim that men have fewer ribs than women when I was arguing with my brother. He asked, “if the Adam and Eve story isn’t true than why do men have fewer ribs than women?” Even if men did have fewer ribs than women that would not prove the Biblical account but it turns out that men and women do have the same number of ribs (assume no deformity, injury, or surgical removal causing a shortfall).

For normal people the heart is on the left side of the chest. That is one reason why it is better to take your blood pressure on the left arm (closer to the heart). There is a rare congenetal condition called “Situs Inversus” where the organs are on the opposite side (a mirror image of normal).

Answer #3

No , I dont really know the first one, but the heart is located right behind the carthage in your chest.

Answer #4

both men and women have the same number of ribs. the heart is on the left side of the body

Answer #5

The heart is not on the left side. It’s in the middle, only very slightly to the left. You just feel your pulse more strongly in the left side.
