What foods can I give/make my daughter that will help fill her up?

My daughter is almost 11yrs old and has an endless appetite. However she does not have the metabolism or figure to have an endless appetite. She’s always hungry and always wants something to eat, she’s not a fat child but she’s a thick girl and she’s always had an issue with her weight. She plays outside and does activities. I’ve taken her to the doctor and she says to just limit what she eats. She even made the comment that she has told other parents that if it becomes an issue to put a lock on the fridge and cupboards. I am not to that point she has definitly put on some pounds, too many pounds over the last two months. She has regular snacks but some of the other things I let her snack on are celery, apples, oranges, pickles. Celery is the one thing I let her eat whenever. Does anyone have any suggestions on any kinds of foods, snacks or meals that are healthy and filling?

She might eat endlessly sometimes because she could be having a growth spert. Also shes only eleven she might be chubby now but when she starts to become a little lady she might just sprout up and slim down.

Anything with a good amount of fiber or protein. Oatmeal, granola bars, some cereals, water based soups, and fruit to name a few. =]

Thanks for the advice! I feel crazy what is muesli? I’ve never heard of that. I wish it was a growing spurt, but if it is its a growing spurt that has lasted about 4 almost 5 years now. I am sure that probably is part of it some of the time tho. As for becoming a little lady she’s already started down that path including everything that goes along with it. Makes me wanna cry! She does eat granola bars, oatmeal and that kinda stuff. She does eat breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and sometimes a snack in the evening but its always fruit or veggies which she hates! No matter how much she eats she’s still always hungry. She’s out eaten me since shes been about 7, its crazy. I just don’t know! But thanks for all the advice, its much appreciated!

Nuts are healthy and contain good fats and they are also very filling. Seeds like sunflower seeds are also a good way to fill up. Then you can give her a lot of fruits as snacks, that should give her extra energy and make her less likely to snack.

Oh and a breakfast containing healthy carbs like muesli is a must, it has been proven countless times that people who eat breakfast are thinner and less likely to snack.

Then I also suggest teaching her to eat healthy and regularly, that way she would be less likely to snack on huge amounts at a time. I recently lost about 10 pounds by eating every hour- hour and a half (just about one fruit or so and proper carbs during the day).

Good luck.
