What causes long term pins and needles and turns into numbness?

On Saturday morning I woke to find I had pins and needles in my left arm and leg. I also felt as if I had been hit on the left side of my head with something. I thought this was just the effect of sleeping on my side. This has gradually gotten worse until on Sunday it had spread to my left side, my neck, my left ear and the bridge of my nose. I still have the same thing today except, now my whole left side is completely numb. It has dissapeared from my nose, and the only thing on my left that is not affected is my face. I’ve been to A&E, finding out nothing more, except that if it continues I’ve to return in five days. I’d like to know if anyone knows what this is, how it’s caused, and what I can do from now on.

I dont know I wish I did .. cause I spent a but ton of money at the dr for somthing simular .. my hand and feet felt like the top 2 layres of skin were asleep for like 5 days. when I went to the dr on monday they ran a battery of test and could find nothing wrong .. but like 3 weeks later the skin peeled off where it was asleep on my hads and feet .. hope you have better luck figuring out whats going on than I did.
