What can I do about my disgusting neighbor?

I live in an expensive (to us) community with an hoa full of rules and regulations but most people seem to ignore them and they get away with it because no one checks. My neighbor lets his dog poop in the backyard and doesn’t pick up after him. the poop can sit there for days and since the yards are open (unfenced) the view I get from my windows and back door are “magnificent”.. It gets worse, when he does pick up, I’ve caught him dumping the poop in the nearby bushes (nearer to my house), of course. these are the bushes that kind of separate the properties. His relatives do the same thing when they come visit (his mom) and they don’t hide… They do in plain sight and daylight. I’m so grossed out that I don’t step out in my backyard anymore. I feel like a prisoner in my own house while he has a run of the outdoor areas. I have to watch him play w/his dog, grill, stepping out on the grass full of poop… Uggg. This is so unsanitary I’m actually afraid of going outside because of the flies and mosquitos that I picture carrying diseases. I like dogs but I don’t own one. I seem to be the only person around here who doesn’t. Another neighbor (same street) has 2 big dogs and his dog also use the open backyard as a toilet but he’s nice about it… He picks up almost everyday… Then he uses a shovel to fling out to a pond that all our houses surround… I live surrounded by dog s#%t! help! I’m hesitant to speak to this person because even though he seemed friendly enough when we moved in (we never got past the “hello” part on the rare occasion we used to run into each other outside) my husband is not here now and I’m alone so confrontation doesn’t seem like a good idea… Going to the hoa doesn’t appeal either because I just know they’ll know it was me… Help!

LOL mikeh…

You sound phobic about this. Throwing it into pond sounds more digusting to me, and since the rest of neighbors throw their crap into a communal pond, how much poop is at the bottom of that? Dog poop breaks down faster than any other type of poop. It is also the highest in nitrogen, so those bushes should grow fast and maybe block your view. What he does in his OWN back yard is his bees wax.

honestly, just tell somebody if its that much of a worry for you, like straight up tell your neighbors or whoever this might concern otherwise. its better then being stuck at home like your saying. why would you mind what the neighbors think if they’re doing something your against.

Answer #3

Contact the president of your neighborhood association. But if you haven’t done so by now, I’m guessing you’re in this for the drama, not for the solution. It’s dog crap, not the holocaust. Get over it.

Answer #4

Have a fence built around your yard
