What are my chances of getting into a good college?

I’m in 8th grade, and today I took a practice act test. I got a 32 on the english, 23 on the math, 28 on the reading, and 33 on the science reasoning. My composite score is 29. So if I was taking an actual act test, do you know what a few colleges I’d be accepted in? I mean, I’ll more than likely get a higher score when I take it my junior year.

First off, those numbers are just approximations, so don’t expect them to be accurate to the actual test. In a few years, things may change greatly - perhaps for better or perhaps for worse. Don’t hold your current scores into much regard at all. They don’t really mean anything, unfortunately.

If you’re just looking to the future though, then I can tell you that an overall score of 19 or so will get you into just about any college. Up that to 24 or so and you’re pretty well set. I got a 32 on mine overall when I took it my senior year, and because of that I have all of my tuition and fees paid for by my university. That’s really what it comes down to - what scholarships you will be getting. Each school is going to have a slightly different requirement overall, but anything in the twenties should be fine if you aren’t looking into crazy Ivy leaguers.

Also, anything above the thirties is a really good start for high dollar scholarships. If you get that come the time you take the actual test, you’ll be super set. Keep that nose to the books! :)

You’re in 8th grade…your grades aren’t going to matter as much until you’ve done secondary school - that’s where the real truth lies.

A lot of students change their grades significantly in secondary school, so, honestly - nobody can accurately answer your question.
