How under weight is a BMI of 15.8?

Answer #1

Depends on your weight and height for us to determine how underweight you are.

BMI only calculates for the average person (one who exercises 1-2 days a week), so if you exercise a lot, then don’t pay much attention to BMI. Unless of course you’re not eating enough food.

Answer #2

Dangerously so. As in, classified as anorexic dangerous. Underweight is <18.5.

Answer #3

I’m 5’6” and weigh 98 pounds. And I’m 15.

Answer #4

You are ~20lb. underweight, miss. You should try to gain weight, at least until you get to 115-125lb. At 98lb., you are as Connor said, anorexic. :\

Answer #5

Ooooh. Ick. Thanks!

Answer #6

Your welcome. :)

Answer #7

There is more to anorexia than a low bmi but yeah its really low.

Answer #8

Of course I know that, but from what I’ve read you’re clinically diagnosed as anorexic when you hit a certain BMI. Not sure if that’s true or not.

Answer #9

I’m actually currently in the exact same situation as you. Haha, I weight and am the same height. I had to gain tons of weight to get to 98. Yes definitely underweight, you should definitely gain.

Answer #10

wow….you must be one heck of a skinny person ;) I hope you calculated wrong…if not..go eat some donuts :).

Answer #11

That is … (digging out the chart) http://www.funadvice.com/photos/lose_weight_2

A height of 5’6’’ is upper average for your age. about 75% of all girls (worldwide) that are 15 are shorter than you.

And in the weight curve it says that 97% of all girls (worldwide) of your age are heavier than you.

I’d say, gain weight, ma’am. And If you can’t, then go to a doc and get help. This is not healthy.

Answer #12

No because I have an overweight friend who is in a psych ward for anorexia. And a girl I work with is extremely underweight but eats 5 times more than me.

Answer #13

Have no fear of gaining weight! Now, BMI is not the most accurate, as it says I am overweight but it is not taking into account I work out 6 days a week. You may be fine, but without an educated person telling you so, you should discuss this with your parents.
