Does anyone know about water changes with fish tanks?

Like how often should I change my tanks? And I need somebody to answer that really knows about this for the sake of my fish. No offense to anyone else. I still like your advice. If you could, could you also give me a link to a real website if you know any that can answer this question.

Answer #1

When I had my fish I cleaned and changed the water like every 2 months, don’t forget to clean the gravel and any accessories that r in the tank. To keep ur tank cleaner longer invest in a couple algae eaters

Answer #2

It depends on the fish, some fish can tolerate dirty water, others can’t. Some even like dirty water, but like I said, it depends on your fish. My friend has a betta fighting fish and I think he cleans it about once a month, but when he does he uses a water conditioner to make tap water safe for the fish.

Answer #3

Bettas are a special case. They eat little so they naturally poop little. Bettas can also breath air so aeration isn’t necessary. When I kept a betta in my office I used a 1 gal tank changing 1/3 of the water every month and feeding M-W-F.

Answer #4

My friend feeds his betta 3 tiny little pellets 3 times a day… I bet that’s too much :/

Answer #5

When I started keeping bettas the recommended frequency of feeding was once every other day. Now most recommend once or twice/day. My bettas always done fine on a 3 day/week feeding. In either case the important thing is to only feed what they can eat immediately then scoop up any extra so it won’t foul the water.

Answer #6

Ohh I see. We place just one tiny pellet (they’re seriously about the size of a tiny freckle) at a time and we feed him 3 pellets 3 times a day (morning/afternoon/lunch). Is it possible for them to eat too much? Im gonna do some googling tomorrow…
