walking my border collie!

my border collie is twelve weeks old, and I have walked her a couple of times but im just unsure about how long to walk her for, because someone said her joints wont have formed properly or something x

For border collies you should walk them for a minimum of 45 minutes. They need loads of exercise, yahh wait until she gets use to being walked often and every now and then you can take her on a longer walk if you would like to. But, yah jumping is good for the joints, so try and see if you can get her to like jump on a bed or table or couch or just catch a frisbee, or maybe jump into your arms if you can teach her that.

You just don’t want to take her on 2 mile jogs…you can walk her all you want…walking is easy on the joints. Usually, high protection of the joints, is reserved for the larger breeds (Rots, GSD’s, St. Bernards, Newf’s etc)…

It would be good, however, to keep her jumping at a minimum until her bones harden…like into a pick up, or a high bed, or after frisbees, etc.

she’ll let you know when she is tired.

a walk shouldn’t hurt her. since she is young though, you might only want to take her around the block or down the street and back.
