Could these circulatory/blood flow problems be caused by a serious condition? (read more)

Why do I keep waking up with no blood flow in my arms/hands and whenever i have them upright for a really short period of time, i lose blood flow too? I’ll wake up and won’t be able to move my hand because it’ll be so painful, so I have to veeery slowly move it downward so blood will get down there. I’m not completely positive if its loss of blood flow or what, it just seems like that’s most likely and that’s exactly how it feels too. Its not every morning that this happens. Also, like right now, holding up the phone while typing this, I have to lower my arm intermittently because my hands get no blood flow and get tingly and kind of painful.

I also dont know if this is irrelevant or not, but when I’ve been standing up I keep getting hazyish black outs every time. I know that was a lit to read, and I know someone will tell me to go to the doctors, but my mom won’t take me unless I really push her too because its like a last resort to her. Thank you all in advance!

Answer #1

You might have low pressure, I have issues with blacking out if I stand up to fast. I have also always had issues with circulation getting to my hands and feet though I dont know if they are tied together. It wouldn’t hurt to get checked out though.

Answer #2

I have that issue too from time to time. it helps a lot more to be active and keep your blood flow strong. when i am leening on my arm well laying down or sitting the same thing happens to me. i use to get the black outs as well its just that your blood rushs to your head and kind disorients you for a sec. or two. as for the arms do you crack your knuckles at all?

Answer #3

Its not if im sitting in a certain position or anything..just if my arms are up in the slightest. I know it not that im not active either. Yes I crack my knuckles you but its not enough to do anything I don’t think

Answer #4

I’d have to go with mackenzie and say that it is low blood pressure. i crack my knuckles and some times out of the blue my hands will start to tingle like the pins and niddle feeling and then they will randomly stop.

Answer #5

Do you eat alot of protein? That can help. Because protein gives you energy, and keeps your blood flowing. Also, dark chocolate is good for your blood, so maybe eat a small piece a day & see if that helps. Honestly, i’d talk your mom into taking you to the doctor, because it can be dangerous to have low blood pressure. If that is what it is, you need to be put on medication, and that won’t happen unless you see a doctor. Your mom needs to understand the risks of not taking you.

Answer #6

Ah I’ll talk about it with her then..were just really low on money. And yes I eat a lot of protein :)

I use to have both those problems - getting dizzy and sometimes passing out when I stood up quickly (even a couple of seizure-like experiences), and waking up a few times to the scary discovery that one of my hands was like a dead fish flopping at the end of my arm with no sensation at all. The first could be low blood sugar or a circulatory problem. The second could also be a circulatory problem, but most likely means that your body was positioned in a way that cut off circulation to your arm or hand. I don’t know if the thing about your hands getting tingly and painful when you hold them up for a while might be circulatory, too, but it could be a nerve problem, like a pinched nerve or repetitive stress injury. None of them are necessarily serious problems, but any of them could be. That’s why you need to see a doctor (but don’t need to freak out until then).

Answer #9

I actually woke up this morning with a dead arm! Scared the hell outta me..thank you!

Answer #10

Do you have any tips? I know I dont get much circulation in my hands or feet as well..they are always freezing.
