Traps

How do you make a box trap. Like the kind where it is like a cage or box and it has a door and when the animal goes in for food the door slides shut.

it is easier to spend 20 bucks and buy a live trap, than it is to explain how to build one. for 20 to 50 bucks you can buy a live trap to catch everything from gophers to raccoons.

to build one you would need a cage- then you would have to make a working trigger plate on a single pin hinge, from that trigger plate goes a rod which would attach to your door mechanism- the live traps I have use a v-spring attached to the door, but a simple falling door could be used.

I would just buy an appropriately sized live trap to catch what you are after. I have caught gophers and chipmunks,squirrels, raccoons, and a possum in mine, I am a hunter and will kill an animal- but I like having the option of relocating an animal alive without the need to kill it.
