White stuff on the bottom of my tongue ring?

I just got my tongue ring done on Monday for my 18th birthday and I was wondering if anyone could explain to me why the white stuff is on the bottom of my ring and looks weird and when the swelling goes down because I have been stucking on popsicles, ice cream, ice cubes. Please Help Me.

Answer #1

maybe it is infected and that is like a puss or something I hope not but if it hurts maybe you should have it checked out

Answer #2

Yea I would have to agree that it is puss. But when I had mine done a long time ago I was told everytime I smoked, everytime I took a drink of something that WASN’T water, or ate anything that I should rince my mouth with Listerine and I did and mine healed perfectly fine. Also crushed ice helped me too. :) Good luck

yep, it’s puss. your body just got a hole put into it in the second fastest healing muscle in the body. the heart is the first. I think thats how it goes. use listerine in the morning and lightly brush the area if you smoke? how I got rid of my swelling is I would pull on it in the shower to squeeze out the puss and then I would pull on it the other way making sure I let the water clean it for the most par. dont over clean it like jazlove says or you could cause a gnarly infection to happen and no one really wants that in their mouth now do they? if you take care of it it should heal in about a week or two

Answer #4

the white stuff is most likely puss but this is completely normal, its your bodys way of healing the new wound the swelling should have gone down a bit by now, and should be pretty much gone within a week make sure you clean it as well, but dont overclean it try a sea salt soak 1 cup warm water with 1 tablespoon of sea salt put your tounge in there for about 15mins a few times a week, that should help if it turns a different colour, starts hurting when it shouldnt be, or the swelling hasnt gone down, go back to the piercer the ice and that should help too with the swelling but dont do it constantly or too much

Answer #5

the white stuff is lymph, it is normal, no worries.

its your bodies natural signal of healing. if you want to go “pro cleaning products”, I recommend H2Ocean Arctic Ocean Rinse. It is basically salt water with a bit of menthol and xylitol which also takes care of your teeth along with the piercing. dont overclean it, but dont ignore it either. all in all just brush your teeth after you eat (all the time) and rinse your mouth with the H2Ocean or DILUTED mouthwash, 50/50% (<= important) because pure listerine delays healing and will burn your mouth. if your tongue is aching use ibuprofen, it helps with the pain AND the swelling. talk a lot if you can, and definitely do not baby the piercing because then once you go to your short bar you still wont know how to use it, and it wont heal up comfortably for the things you do normally.

love, your friendly neighborhood piercer.
