Why do girls think anorexia is glamorous?

I have always wondered why some guys and mainly girls think that it is “Glamorous” to be anorexic?? if anyone could tell me why I will listen.

Answer #1

Anorexia is also a mental illness. My best friend is anorexic. Originally, they think they’re just going to lose a few pounds. Then they start seeing other girls losing a few pounds and they look great, and they want to look thinner and thinner. Anorexia is not glamorous. The anorexic sees themselves differently, so they think that anorexia is glamorous. But actually, a lot of anorexics are in denial and don’t believe that they are ill. This happened with my friend.

I think its a stereotype of anorexia. people think all the skinny anorexic models and celebrities are gorgeous and ‘strong’. but they are very ill. mentally and physically. I have anorexia and I was in hospital for 6 months. not glamorous at all. I’ve’s, feeding tubes and heart monitors, EKG’s and chest xrays. needles and bloodwork. blood pressure machines…does this sounds glamorous?? eating disorders are a mental illness and very deadly and serious. you may think its glamorous and that super thin girls are gorgeous. thats what I thought. but its not worth falling into this trap. anorexia is not glamorous.

Answer #3

Actually, many guys have said that really thin is un attractive and gross. I don’t know what makes girls think that, it might have to do with their self consious. Sometimes most girls have so low of a self esteem they think they are fat when they are not. There are many things that drive girls to trying to be skinny, I can’t pin point it, but I can somewhat see why they do it, they shouldn’t though. It doesn’t help any if any of you girls who think are fat and are not are trying to lose so much weight. It’s not healthy. Get checked out if there are girls who feel like that. I don’t want any girls to die from anorexia, bulimia, or anything like that!

Answer #4

I’m a girl and i don’t think its Glamorous at all. Only people who think its glamorous is probully very confused because i see people who are anorexic and they look like a skeleton with skin stretched over it. It’s not pretty at all i dont know why some people think that, maby they have low self esteem and think low of themselves.

Answer #5

They usually have really skewed ideas of what anorexia is. They think to be anorexic means to be thin, elegant, and able to control yourself, when in reality, it’s thin to the point of grossness, it’s being cold all the time, it’s being in pain all the time, yellowed skin, hair falling out, and one thing it does not give you is control. Anorexia is a disease that takes all the control away from you. They aren’t eating because they don’t want to, someone that really has anorexia is not eating because she actually can’t bring herself to eat.

Answer #6

“Actually, many guys have said that really thin is un attractive and gross. I don’t know what makes girls think that,”

the thing is girls dont think its pretty to be THAT skinny, they think if they dont eat just enough they’ll look pretty enough for “that guy” to like her, but then they lose control of it, && they get TOO skinny. && then they CANT eat anymore becaue they’ve shrunk their stomach so much it cant contain food && that’s when it gets serious && they have to be hospitalized.

so its not that they want to be extra extra like skeleton skinny its that no matter what they’ll always be fat in their eyes, && they dont want to eat because they’re scared the minute they do they’ll balloon up && be just as big (which isn’t as big as they thought) as they were in the beggining.
