What do you talk about with a therapist?
What do you talk about with a therapist? What kind of questions do they ask you?
Depends on what your going to see them for… Will depend on how they start their questions. What are you going to see one for?
Mine started with “Do you know what you’re here for?” And as for what you talk about with them, unless they tellll you specifically what they want you to talk about, you basically just talk about your life. How’s school? Got a boyfriend? What makes you happy, what makes you sad. The first session is basically for the therapist to just get to know you :)

They will probaly ask what your dad does that makes you stressed out. i’m sure they;ll ask if you have thoughts of killing yourself. Ask why you decided to come see them. Crap like that. Then you’ll have to try and open up a bit. Most of the time they read off questions from their computer to decide if you really need help or not. That’s how it has always been when ever i tried going to a therapist.
Sounds like a good idea :) So the therapist will probably just ask what I said above, and things about your family (how’s life at home? Do you fight with your mum/dad/sister/brother etc.?)
D: wow hannie, it wasn’t like that for me at all! My therapist was amazing, we talked about everything and I always knew she was there if I needed to talk. I still email her ^_^

Awesome for you<33 –I tried going to 2 diff therapists because i used have trouble with my mom and stuff,and they were assholes to me. And they were like robots with the questions. I guess everyone is diff. <3 i had the bad luck end ha.

fersure. But then again,like everyone is a douche out here. :( –I poured out everything to some stupid stranger and then she tells me i don’t need help. Ergh.
They will talk with you about the situation and ask about your feelings and emotions towards things.
It depends on the therapist and how they work. I usually go over basics in the first session (family history, why they’re there, what they hope to get out of therapy, relationships, any history of self harm or su.icide, depending on why they’re coming in i’ll talk about symptoms of depression, anxiety etc…). After a couple of sessions, you start working on what is going on and how to work to make it better. It will be fine. You ALWAYS have the option of not talking about something. You have the option of asking your therapist what will happen in particular situations, when he or she has to reveal stuff to your parents, etc. Remember that this is your therapy session. If something makes you uncomfortable, or if you dont like something the therapist has said or is doing, you can tell them. It’s not usually done with other people. But in therapy the rules work differently. You’ll be fine. It’s not that bad.
Well mine usually just asks how my day went, and we go from there. We’ll progress to the ‘is there anything you want to talk about’ kind of thing a few minutes later. Of course every therapist has their own kind of method, but this might give you a bit of insight.
