Can you get suspended or expelled for telling a racist joke to a friend?

If somebody reports it in as offensive then yes. If you feel you HAVE to tell your friend this joke don’t do it in school…

Answer #4

not unless the friend is a good friend and doesn’t tell. but keep in mind to not have the racist jokes about your friend’s race or religion…that’s bad

Answer #5

This sounds really serious… What was the joke??

Answer #6

Suspension is probably a possibility; schools don’t take racism lightly. Since I’m assuming this is your first time getting in trouble for it, however, I really doubt that you’ll get expelled.

Whatever the case is, even if you don’t get suspended or expelled, always remember that you need to be careful about which jokes you tell. Just because others make jokes about certain things, it doesn’t necessarily mean that doing so is appropriate or that it won’t offend someone.

If you have to talk to your principal about it, I’d recommend being honest about it. Tell them that you made a joke and wasn’t intending for it to be insulting. Apologize for doing it, and let him know that you’ve also apologized to your friend for telling the joke. Let him know that you will NOT make jokes like this again, as you understand now that those kind of jokes are inappropriate to tell, even to friends. After you’ve said that, let him take it from there.

Answer #8

lol, sad as it is. YES, school system’s are whack. You can get in trouble for pretty much everything. I pinched someone last year.. got charged. Refused to change out of my pants (that were out of “dresscode”.) into some the school provided because they were TO smallllllllll. got charged AGAIN with disorderly conduct. Sent a forward message that was considered “cyber bullying”.. suspended for a week. Dropped a pencil pouch full of colored pencil’s in the art room, and was therefore “late” for class.. they called my mother. :)
