Superpower?

Do you think America is the only Superpower?

Answer #1

YOu obviously haven’t heard of china

Answer #2

If we think of the EU as a country, then they would certainly be considered an economic superpower. Russia still has plenty of firepower, but a weak economy. China will be a superpower in the next 10-15 years. Within the next 50 years they will be THE superpower. It is inevitable. They are too big, and have huge resources. Lets hope they get better with their environmental and human rights policies.

Answer #3

What is a superpower? A nation that has the ability to destroy the earth? That would be suicidal, so that’s a pretty useless definition.

A nation that controls the world economy? The US certainly does, but the EU does even more. Other major economic nations include Japan, China, Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Russia, Spain, and Brazil.

So, then is it a government that can not be ousted? If that’s what it is, then really there are dozens of superpowers.

Answer #4

I think China is a good contender for another super power, and so is Germany. Germany is doing so well that there has been talk about making Germany a permanent member of the UN’s Security Council.

Russia has never really recovered from the fall of the Soviet Union.

Answer #5

I’m 66 and yes I see what the others are saying about China, The US is the main supper power today and China is more toward productivity and financial power than militarily might. Korea is a fear but not Chine. China owns most of the US debt. They are broke if the US falls.

Answer #6

AFAIK ya, but I don’t know much. China is climbing fast but still way behind I think. You could count the entire European Union (put together) maybe.

Answer #7

At the moment I’d say yes, but in time to come I think China will be, with all these politically failed wars and the dollar crashing, I think its only a matter of time for someone else to step in. And hell they can’t do no worse.

Answer #8

nah the ruskies have lots of nukes plus a lot of people hate the U.S so its a matter of time before they fall

Answer #9

haha. What bout russia though? I think there comin back

Answer #10

yeah kinda

Answer #11

America is largely at the mercy of other nations. China could cripple our economy if they tightened up our credit. The middle east could cripple us if they throttled the supply of oil.

Yes we have a larger military and more weapons of mass destruction than the rest of the world combined but as long as we are so dependent on other nations we are not the only superpower.

Answer #12

We might as well face it. The World is too tightly knit for there ever to be a full scale war anymore. Only liuttle countrys can be picked on now and thats only if its gonna help economics
