Is my boyfriend suicidal and how to help?

ok so I have a boyfriend that I have been seeing for about 8months. he drinks every single day. … the thing is he called me last night at 3am sobbing on the phone saying that he wanted to die. I asked him what was wrong and he tells me that I wouldnt understand so I got quiet after that because I didnt know what to say so he took it like I wasnt trying to comfort him. I just hate when he drinks EVERYDAY and I try telling him thats it not good and that he needs to stop. but of course he wont listen to me. I also hate when he talks about killing himself, he would make little comments here and there “o I want to die” but last night was serious, this guy never cries, I dont think I have actually ever seen or heard him cry but he was bawlin on the phone saying he wants to die. and he also claims that he took a whole bottle oF asprin but it didnt work so my questions are… 1)what do you think I should do?!!! 2)is it true you can take a whole bottle of aspirin without harming urself? (mind u, he was mixing wit alcohol) HELP ASAP!!

I wish I could ban alcohol from his life but he has a car, he has money, he lives on his own, he can get it behind my back if he pleased.

call information & get a sucide number center have him call or call yourself & tell them to call him if he wont talk tell his parents or someone else who can help him.I really do hope he works it out

Answer #4

If he was willing to call you, it meant that he wanted you to comfort him in this time of need, he obviously trusts you and believes that you are willing to listen to him and to try and understand what he’s going through.

Mixing drugs with alcohol is asking for death..get him to go and see a doctor because if he is consuming excess amount of alcohol along with asprins he will do himself some really serious harm.

If it’s possible try to get him in rehab if it’s that bad, or in alcoholic anonymous group sessions which is like group counselling which could be of benefit to him to an extent because there will be other individuals there who will be able to relate to his situation.

Good luck
