Why are there people who hate Spanish people?

well I was just wondering if there was anybody here who is spanish and lives in Spain because I was thinking maybe they could tell me some stuff about the spanish culture and other things

I dont hate Hispanic people but growing up I have been bullied by hispanic girls many times. Honestly I dont know why…I’m a very shy girl who wouldn’t hurt a fly! Anyways, I think, like others have said, that its the way that they have been brought up. The things they learn from their parents or peers make them the way they are. I always wondered why it was always the Hispanic girls that picked on me, maybe it was just a coincidence. Now I’m married to a man that is 100% Dominican and because of the way I was treated growing up I always feel nervous around his mother. It doesnt help that his family, who all knows English, only speaks Spanish when I’m around. I dont understand that. But again, I dont hate them, I just dont understand them! We have to learn about each others cultures to understand why we are the way we are.

I personally think that not the fact that you are Latin, but the way you CHOOSE to act has a great deal to do with it. I have a sister in law from Peru who is the sweetest person you could ever want to know, but I have a co-worker who is from Puerto Rico and is a total beatch!! I also worked with a Cuban girl who was HORRIBLE..So I think the distinction may lie in the section of country that you come from…also, some people think it’s cool to be mean, in fact most people, all races these days do, not because they intentionally start out wanting to hurt people, but because this world sucks so bad and the only way to overcome and make lots of money is to step on those less powerful…MONEY MONEY MONEY!!! I refuse to do it, maybe I’ll stay poor and defeated, but I know I’ll get to heaven..

because they just think that they are all here illegally (this doesnt refer to all spanish people) but they HAD to leave their fcountries because its like a free-for-all down there police are bribed by the gangs,etc.

I know why some people hate the Spanish—the same reason some people hate the Nazi’s—the Spanish perpetrated and are still perpetrating one of the most horrible genocides in all of history–against the indigenous people of the Americas–google the Taino massacre and then follow the links to all the other massacres—Maybe the Spanish people of Mexico and South America have some Karma for what they have done and for what they are doing now—maybe they should get there asses back to Spain and let the natives have their rightful lands back

I’m actually VERY proud of my heritage even the spanish side(yes I am spanish, not full blooded but still spanish) that’s why I’m asking if anybody could help me learn more about the culture so I could have a better understanding of it. and I’m not ashamed of my spanish side either.

Because they are awesome! Just like every race. But Mexican’s are freaking cool.

And on a serious note, we need to understand each other. To that one dude who says we all walk around trying to act gangster: So do white people, so do black people, so do asians.

And I’m Mexican, I don’t talk in spanish to make people not understand me for fun. Yeah, I can come up with ten-thousand reasons why any race sucks, including my own. But people are individual. Also, I don’t drink or do drugs.

Spanish isn’t a race btw, It’s either Mexican or Latino. Or Hispanic.

As imposition I’m spanish, but my heart is catalan. The problem is the imperialism of spanish/castilian culture that other nations of the iberique peninsule supports.

Guess what everyone, Spanish people, Asian, African American, etc… did not choose to be who there are, it was GOD who made that decision, he felt it was a beautiful thing to create different people, so why would you see yourself any better than someone else? You don’t need to blame the world’s problems on one race, because there are a lot of low-lifes in all races! Maybe those are the ones you should be haten’ especially those of your own race…

and ps…not all spanish people are here illegally. Puerto Rico for example is a US owned territory. Furthermore, may I remind you that when we were in the midst of World War II, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and other various Latin countries were drafted into the war and while defending OUR country, were discriminated against by our own WASP bred citizens. Sometimes it can be more personal as to why some people hate a specific race. It can be psychological. For example, if a person had a conflict with someone who was spanish and they felt a lot of anger and rage for that person at that time, it can trigger something in their mind to be angry at all spanish people because they start to believe that they are all the same. There are many key factors for the question that you are asking but I hope I was of some help to you!

a lot of disrespect towards the spanish race comes from the disrespectfulness of them using another lang against those that dont know it. Spanish should be used around spanish. Also if you are here and cant speak english…you should learn it…this is the american-english culture. Im not trying to be mean or anything. Just like if we were to go to mexico and speak english around those that cant understand it. Some would think it was rude…or that the english were talking about them. That’s how we feel sometimes.

I am fully Spanish and I think it’s probably because Spanish people who don’t think and do bad stuff

This is the dumbest post ever. “Spanish” is not a race you dumb-a$$, it’s an ethnicity–a WHITE ethnicity. Spain is in Europe, not f**king South America or the Caribbean. You Mexicans, Peruvians, or whatever you may be…need to realize what you really are. Stop trying to claim another identity as your own when you should know damn well that you’re not. Besides, if you do have Spanish somewhere down the line in your family…a sad thing or not, you have WHITE in your family. This is just as stupid as pulling any random country out of Africa–say Zimbabwe–and saying that Zimbabweans aren’t black. Get real. If you read your history right, Latin Americans, you’ll realize that you’re descended from Native Americans, which is why you get the features that you do–which is why you look different from us Spanish people–whom are white. Hola a todos! How are you doing? Well, I am Spanish, born in the Basque Country. Can anybody explain the reason why people use the term Spanish to refer to every single spanish native speaker? I mean some of them would love and would feel proud of being called MEXICAN, COLOMBIAN, URUGUAYAN… because they are indeed!!!

Haven´t you been told at school that SPANISH are from SPAIN and COLOMBIAN are from COLOMBIA? By the way, did you know that SPAIN is not somewhere in Africa but it is in… surprise surprise EUROPE???

Please, we should start distinguishing people from Spain(that is , SPANISH) and people whose native language is also Spanish but are from other beautiful and out-of this world countries such as Mexico, Colombia,Chile, Argentina and so on.

So, Spanish from Spain and Chilean from Chile right! By the way, I love all Spanish speaking countries, we share a beautiful language, so don´t get me wrong. It´s just that it´s like saying that english include americans, australians, the Brits and so on. I am sure you wouldn´t like that.

because they are annoying they try to act gangsta they walk around here with their green cards and speak their annoying language and commit a lot of violence. studies shows the drug percentage of teenagers and out of the white,black,etc spanish teenagers has the highest percentage of drug use. it’s not that I hate spanish people but they need to get their act together.

But everybody hates on everybody, even white people get hated on, FRENCH people too. The truth is being spanish is fu(&ing cool, we got great music, amazing food, and the best party by far. YOu shouldnt coward in the corner form your heritage instead
assimilate to the american culture but dont disintegrate your heritage, is perhaps pnr of the greatest things you posses.

I think you all are talking about “spanish language speaking people”. I am Mexican and I speak spanish. If you don’t know what spanish speaking people are saying and you think they are talking about you, maybe you should get mad at yourself for eavesdropping so much, damn so nosy. Also, remember learn your history. Take sociology, psychology, criminal justice, diversity studies to learn why there is hate towards individuals like myself. It is a lot deeply ingrained in history than people think.
