Could I have done some nerve damage to my thumb?

The other day I woke up and realized something was wrong with my thumb, it was numb. But, knowing how I sleep (on my stomach and laying my hand) I didn’t think anything of it so I went on with my day went to sleep that night woke up the next morning and realized my thumb was still numb. Could I have done some nerve damage to it and not even realized it?

Answer #1

If your thumb regained feeling after a period of time then its not nerve damage. Its possible that its the start of carpel tunnel syndrome from using your wrist/hands too much during the day and getting poor circulation to your hands/thumb. It could also just be the way you are sleeping at night. You may roll into a certain position each night while already asleep and not realize that its providing poor circulation to your hand.

Thanks for response. I’m just really nervous!! I can understand that it could be carpel tunnel syndorme. I am on the computer ALOT during the day and most of the night so, like I said that’s understandable. Thanks again. :)
