Smoking causing receding gums?

I want to know if smoking around 30 cigarettes a year is the cause of my receding gums? please help I’m only 26:(

Answer #1

just so you know I feel crazy.. brushing your teeth has nothing to do with gingivitis. it is a bacteria that all people produce 24/7 that causes gingivitis. make sure to eat right and floss at least once a week to get possible food unstuck from gums.. also 30 cigarettes a year did not and is not causing gingivitis I can promise you that. that is like social smoking im guessing? smoking is not causing your gingivitis or receding gums.. make sure you are not brushing your gums too harshly and use a soft bristled tooth brush!

Answer #2

Yes it does. 30 cigarettes a year?! That’s not addiction! Some addicts smoke that much a day. Whatever reason you have for smoking you should stop.

Answer #3

Answer #4

Yes, smoking is known to cause gingivitis which can cause your gums to recede.

Stop smoking and go see your dentist to get some advice and treatment for it.

However 30 cigarettes is not a large amount, the most likely cause is that you don’t floss or brush your teeth properly.
